The idea of bringing back dinosaurs, as seen in movies like “Jurassic Park,” is more make-believe than any possible real event. The main obstacle is the availability and preservation of dinosaur DNA. DNA, a molecule that breaks down over time, is an important stumbling block; the oldest recovered fragments of DNA come from organisms that were alive tens of thousands of years ago, not dinosaurs that lived millions of years ago. The fossilization process hardly preserves DNA and the chances of finding intact and usable genetic material from a dinosaur; whose extinction occurred around 65 million years ago .

Should scientists happens to recover bits and pieces old dinosaur DNAs, then it would be upon them to develop complete functional genomes next. This task is complicated by gaps or deterioration in ancient sequences. Also, successful cloning involves implanting the cloned organism into a living surrogate who gives birth to it. However, presently no species has been found to serve as a surrogate mother for a dinosaur due to vast biological differences.

However, while CRISPR-Cas9 genetic tools have become very useful in genome modification and editing they face some ethical, practical and technical issues when it comes to recreating extinct creatures using these means. Scientists are studying options for de-extinction on smaller scales where efforts are being made to bring back recently extinct animals such as Dodo, trex and stellar sea cow etc  .

Anyways in recent times scientists are eager and focused about present restoration of endangered and endemic species to conserve the environment .
