- Cheap labour- Most of the wealthier nations send e-waste (metals, electronics and plastics) to developing nations because of the cheap cost of their labour.
- Dangerous substances in waste- E-waste is a mix of hazardous materials that can harm living beings and the environment. When handled incorrectly, the toxic chemicals in e-waste will be released into the environment.
- Inadequate sources to properly manage waste- Developing nations lack financial resources, proper infrastructure and knowledge on how to manage waste properly. This leads to health issues and environmental pollution.
- Environmental pollution- Improper handling of waste leads to groundwater and soil contamination, diseases and other types of pollution.
