Many children today spend much of their time indoors, playing games on their tablets or watching television. Children have a great need for physical exercise and activity and a chance to use their muscles to run, swing, jump, skate and riding, and to be out in the fresh air and sunshine. It is needed to use their whole body when they play outdoors, and such physical activities are interesting and challenging. One way to combat obesity is to allow children plenty of outdoor playtimes. Outdoor play gives children the opportunity to run, jump, climb, swim, dance and more, all of which provide aerobic exercise and strength training.
