The global collapse of far-right governments is attributed to internal and external factors. Far-right councils and politicians no matter the region all around the world are observed and studied to be inclined towards nationalist projects, recklessly ignorant about the fact of long-term economic planning and fiscal responsibility.
Social unrest and polarization are significant internal factors to the cause. Far rights policies create deep societal divisions by marginalization of minorities, impacting social upheaval and protests. More often, these governments impersonate authoritarian beliefs, oppressive ideologies, and suppression of media and civil society. Such policies attract domestic and international backlash for the government’s legitimacy and stability.
As earlier stated, international pressure contributes as the external factor for downgrading far-right governments. The economic sanctions imposed by international countries weaken the political standing and challenge the authority of political governments.
In the United States, the period of Donald Trump’s presidency was noticeable with numerous scandals and erosion of democratic norms. Furthermore, in Hungary and Poland, the oppressive far-right governments faced pressure from the European Union because of their illiberal policies and undermining of democratic regulations.
In conclusion, far-right governments are driven by unstable economic management, corruption, social unrest and authoritarian attitudes.
