Contradictions- 

1. Tughlaq’s innovative and impulsive nature coexisted in his policies. Innovations included introducing token currency creating a centralized administrative system and promoting agriculture through irrigation projects. However, impulsiveness led to ill fated decisions like suddenly shifting the capital to Daulatabad forcing mass migrations and implementing untested economic reforms.
2. Tughlaq’s dual nature combined intellectual pursuits with brutal actions. Intellectually, he patronized scholars, founded educational institutions and studied mathematics, medicine and philosophy. Conversely, his brutal side manifested in harsh punishments, massacres of rebellious tribes and merciless treatment of critics, earning him a reputation for ruthlessness and tyranny.
3. Tughlaq’s governance style blended centralization and decentralization. Centrally, he established a robust administrative system, standardized currency and controlled key provinces. Decentralizing measures included appointing semi autonomous governors (naibs) in distant regions, granting nobles significant autonomy and relaxing control over local administrations, creating conflicting power structures and inefficiencies.
4. Tughlaq’s policies reflected a paradoxical blend of orthodoxy and unconventionality. Orthodoxically, he enforced strict Islamic laws (Sharia), punished heretics and promoted Islamic education. Unconventionally, he introduced token currency, shifted the capital to Daulatabad and implemented unorthodox agricultural reforms, defying traditional Islamic and administrative norms, showcasing his eclectic approach to governance.

Muhammad bin Tughlaq’s policies were a mix of good ideas and reckless decisions causing confusion, economic troubles and unrest, ultimately weakening his empire and leaving a complex legacy.
