Several factors inhibit female literacy, particularly in developing regions. Socio-cultural barriers, such as traditional gender roles and societal norms, often prioritize boys’ education over girls’. Economic constraints also play a significant role; families may prioritize limited resources for male education. Additionally, lack of access to schools, particularly in rural areas, and inadequate transportation can hinder girls’ attendance. Safety concerns, including harassment during commutes, further discourage families from sending daughters to school. Furthermore, insufficient female teachers and gender-biased curricula can create an unwelcoming environment for girls. Addressing these factors is crucial for improving female literacy rates and promoting gender equality.
