High fixed costs, high capital requirements, unsuitability for small and fragmented land holdings, unavailability of skilled labor, and no adequate infrastructure is prohibitive to mechanised farming in India. These challenges have made it difficult to implement these advanced technologies at a broader scale, especially among smallholder farmers, thus influencing productivity and economic sustainability. Challenges also include the needs for environmentally friendly practices and financial sustainability.
