The Planning Commission was set up in 1950 to develop a sequence of five-year action roadmaps for practise in India’s economic reform. In its place, NITI Aayog, constituted in 2015, has been tasked with promoting cooperative federalism, positing itself as an agent of policy innovation while also promotion participatory development, based on technology-driven and data-driven approach.
