Primary memory, in the context of computer science, refers to the memory that the CPU can directly access. It includes the CPU’s registers, cache memory, and RAM. Primary memory is volatile and data can be read from and written to it using unique addresses for each memory location.
There are two main type’s of primary memory as:
1.ROM (Read Only memory) A form of computer memory that stores data even when not powered.
2.RAM (Random Access Memory)
The main use of primary memory is to store data that the CPU needs immediately to avoid waiting for it to be delivered.
Primary memory is a part of computer memory that can cpu can access directly. Primary memory is faster to access than secondary memory. In primary memory data value can be read from and written using a unique address using a unique memory address for each memory locations . Primary memory is volatile memory it will lose data once power is turned off. It is a part of computer memory that store current data, program, instructions. Primary storages result in the data from and to primary storage can be read and written at very good pace
Primary Memory of a Computer
Definition and Function Primary memory, also known as main memory or RAM (Random Access Memory), is the part of a computer’s memory system that directly interacts with the CPU (Central Processing Unit). It is used to store data and instructions that are currently in use or being processed by the computer. This type of memory is crucial for the efficient functioning of a computer system, as it allows for quick access to data and instructions.
