Mainly it’s due the education system build on memorisation and its stagnant nature which does not cater the up coming generation but follows the same curriculum that has been used for a decade or so. The education system in the primary level only focuses on studying and getting grades, this is where teachers start telling to score well rather than have good skill sets or personal development. You can clearly see that children will know how to score well but they won’t know how to express themselves properly , interpersonal skills can be seen lacking. The education system in itself is built very rigidly to follow one type of studying and it does not cater to different type of students and their pace of learning. Children are made to think but with strict parameters and out of box thinking isn’t always welcome.
To improve these conditions, there is need for a dynamic system which is incorporated with newer technology. Children should be allowed to develop their talents and inter personal skills in the primary level and then importance can be give for scoring . Highly trained teachers who are well equipped with child psychology is needed as well. Classroom should be made into an environment where children have no restriction in their imagination and opinions.
In India , Education is much important for all the children’s or students no matter from which Religion , Caste , family they were belong .
I think the lack of focus on creativity and critical thinking in Indian education comes from various points . Some points I written below …
1 . We only learn the topics and historical dates and many other things for just passing our exam , which doesn’t really encourage us to think creatively .
2 . In Many schools and College many teachers aren’t well trained to encourage the students creative thinking . They just only focus on delivering their content or subject to the students which does not give any beneficial impact on student critical and creative thinking .
3. Schools in some area like rural areas does not have well educated teachers and don’t have proper resources for education, they don’t have proper material to encourage students towards creative thinking .
To improve problem like above point we can take various steps for the improvement
1. We can enhance the training of Teachers to use innovative teaching methods ..
2. We can increase children mind activity like art , music , sports out and indoor games , group quiz and many other competition these skills helps students to develop creative skills and teamwork also .
3 In the Indian education system there is also role of parents towards the mental health and thinking of students . If parents also help students to increase their creative and critical thinking then it’s easy for teachers also to improve their children thinking …
By making these such changes . We can increase the focus of students on creativity and critical thinking
This is because education at this primary stage is mainly focussed on rote learning that is to say that students are made to learn things which are already existing and cramming things just to pass exams and score well to move on . Ok , this is all again because Parents , Teachers and Guardians also want their wards to score well in their exams as this becomes the final thing that determines their future. So , this kills the creativity and thus lack of critical thinking amongst the students in their Primary levels of education as they are not left to develope their own thinking in a creative way and to think differently.
I think students at thie Primary stages of their schooling should be left free to see things in their own different ways and infact think critically about certain things rather than summarizing things based on facts and figures which are already existing and imposed on them.
Children should be encouraged to see things differently and come up with innovative ideas and develope their own ways of reasoning and critically analyse things backed by the proper guidance of their Parents and Teachers. Focus should be to be littlle different from the old and hackneyed education system.
