In ancient Hindu texts, it is called Prayag, which means a place of sacrifice. This city has been a center of spiritual activity for millennia, whose origin is mentioned in the Vedas, Purana and holy texts like the Mahabharata.
Prayag is home to the Kumbh Mela, which we also know for hosting the Kumbh Mela. Which is one of the largest religious celebrations around the world, you will get to see this every 12 years, millions of pilgrims and ascetics gather here to bathe in the holy waters of the Sangam, they believe that it purifies the soul and washes away your sins.
The city is also associated with the creator god Brahma in Hindu mythology who is said to have made a great sacrifice here. Prayagraj has been home to many scholars and disciplines over the centuries. It is a centre of learning and its deep cultural, religious and historical significance makes it a revered city.
