Whether women are judged for being women or not being women?
The societal definitions attached to the word ‘women’ itself come along with the demands of conformities, stereotypes and discrimination.
Women are always defined by the stereotypical concepts of ideal mother, wife, daughter and so on. They are forced to satisfy the expectations of the society and gender roles which are imposed on them for decades.
They are always forced to live up to the definitions, attributions, characteristics and roles made by the society and they are confined from exploring the true essence of being women and who they really are.
The biggest criteria to judge a women comes down to the way she dresses. It is made such a major part of the judgement that it is now normalized.
It is also noticed that people judge women by their position of work and responsibility. If she’s a single working women, she is looked over as “put on airs” and if she’s dependent, she is looked over with pity.
They are also discriminated on the basis of how they look. Women of color and women with different bodies than the “standardized shape” are often a victim to exclusion.
Nowadays we live in a evolved society but still somewhere down the lane a inequality regarding women is still surviving in the society, where the main reasons are still –
