The ISRO, India’s space program, has been very effective in its endeavor to post great feats. A few of these include:
Aryabhata (1975): The first satellite launched by India is the first step toward the country joining the community of space exploring nations.
-Rohini Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-3) (1980): India became only sixth country in the world to launch a satellite using a home-made launch vehicle placing the Rohini Satellite (RS-1) into orbit.
-Chandrayaan-1 (2008): It was India’s first lunar mission which became an essential discovery of water molecules at the lunar surface.
-Mangalyaan (2014): MOM, Mars Orbiter Mission of Indian Space Research Organisation became the first Asian country to reach Mars and the first in the world who reached Mars on the first attempt.
-Chandrayaan-3 (2023): Took the craft down safely near the south pole of the Moon to become the fourth nation in effect, to soft-land on the Moon and the first to do so near the south pole.
These landmarks show that India is in the process of turning into a space faring nation that can rivals other great power in the space faring business. It is still nowhere near that of the US, Russia or China for instance but the Indian space program has demonstrated steady progress year after year and using what little funds it can muster and therefore its creativity and commitment.
India’s space program is lively always. Exploration authorities have planned for human space flights, moon exploration, and interplanetary flights in the near future. Further more as India continues investing on its space program, it will be more benefited in the coming year.
