The main or major water resources are:
1. Surface Water:
a. Rivers and Streams:They flow precipitation and melting ice water to the oceans.
b.Lakes:Both natural and artificial lakes facilitate storage of water for later supplies to human beings, agriculture, and industries for various uses.
c. Reservoirs:They are artificial in nature, formed by constructing dams across rivers, which are mainly used for storing water, flood control, and hydroelectric power supplies.
2. Groundwater:
a. Aquifers:Porous rock or sediment that stores the water under the Earth’s surface.
b. Wells and Springs:Gain access to groundwater for drinking, irrigation, and industry, especially in arid regions.
3.Atmospheric Water:
a. Water Vapor, Clouds, and Precipitation: Source of all precipitation that recharges surface and groundwater supplies.
b. Hydrological Cycle: Evaporation, condensation, and precipitation distribute fresh water throughout the globe.
These sources are interconnected through the hydrological cycle. Keeping the management of these resources make them available for future generation.
The main resources of water are:
1. Surface water: water from lakes,rivers and ponds which is the supply for fresh water.
2. Glaciers: water from glaciers are fresh water. We get the fresh water when the glaciers melt.
3. Ground Water: The water which is in the earth’s surface. Water supply to plants.
The fresh water contents in the world is 1% remaining all percent is salt water which from oceans. Now, by using various technologies we are trying to convert salt water to fresh drinking water. We have fresh water Lake in Andhra Pradesh which is Kolleru Lake.

There are two main categories of freshwater resources:
1. Surface Water: This is the water you see on the Earth’s surface, including:
Lakes and Ponds: These are freshwater bodies surrounded by land.
Rivers and Streams: These are flowing bodies of freshwater that eventually empty into oceans or larger lakes.
Reservoirs: These are artificial lakes created by damming rivers.
2. Groundwater: This is freshwater found beneath the Earth’s surface in saturated rock and soil layers called aquifers. We access groundwater through wells, springs, and boreholes.
While there’s a vast amount of water on Earth, only a small percentage is freshwater suitable for human consumption and other uses. Surface water and groundwater are the main sources we rely on for drinking water, irrigation, industry, and maintaining healthy ecosystems.
