We have to win their trust and make them feel that we will give them the right advice. Only after that we can ask them personal questions and tell them their solutions.
If he/she is wrong, we should not directly tell him/her that he/she is wrong. We should explain him/her in a different way, tell him/her the difference between right and wrong and make him/her understand like a good advisor.
In the end, after listening to him/her completely, knowing the whole problem well and knowing the circumstances, we should tell him/her the solution.
