It has been argued that ethics in journalism is on a downward spiral. This is most evident in the case of media trials. There are glaring instances of yellow journalism, wherein the media bothers little about authenticity of sources, and sensationalises news to increase TRPs and gain more audience. At times, the electronic media in particular, has been found to be functioning as parallel courts, indulging in direct allegations and public vilification of the accused.

b. What principles, in your view, need to be followed to make sure that media glare does not turn into a media trial?
