India has a very diverse background with the southern part being of Dravidian origin and northern part of Aryan origin. Other than that there are also regional variances due to cultural history. Even within a particular state, there are variety of cultures and languages depending on urban or rural region.
For example, if we take West Bengal, then it distinguishes from other states in terms of language, art and literatures. Whereas within West Bengal, the northern part uses Gorkha, Nepali, Bhutiya, Lepcha languages, western part uses tribal culture and language like santhal, Munda etc, Kolkata and other urban areas use modern Bengali language.
Therefore, India has over 100 languages spoken and a variety of cultures within itself.
