Nowadays, the internet has brought all of us closer to one another that it could be difficult to stop comparing ourselves hence a kind of inferiority complex takes over and overshadows our achievements and individualities. However, transitioning from envy to healthy self-obsession can be life changing. Embracing oneself fully, instead of being consumed by jealousy requires specific actions and mental shifts. At the center of healthy self-absorbtion is self-care. This calls for concentrating on one’s physical, emotional and mental well-being. With a nurtured body and mind, appreciation becomes simpler while refrainment from comparison becomes imminent. Another one is about self-awareness which refers to a deep knowledge of one’s own unique qualities ,strengths, and accomplishments. These are particularly useful in recognizing the growth and development because individuals can reflect regularly on their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Understanding what makes them different from the rest helps them develop a stronger and positive self-concept thus lowering the desire to compare themselves with others. Next, the most important one is social media that often serves as a fuel for jealousy and comparison. This can be transformative by reducing the time spent on these platforms and creating feed that truly inspires not one that prompts envy. When we unfollow accounts which give us feelings of inadequacy and start following those which uplifts and motivates us, we tend to focus on ourselves for growth or development. Eventually, people should learn to be indifferent towards other people’s ideas about them or their achievement which will help in self-love. It does not mean becoming apathetic but rather refusing external validation or criticism influence my self-worth. The transition from envying to healthily self-obsessing oneself is an empowering journey of self-discovery.
