• Uses of Ammonia:

There are many important uses of ammonia. Some of them are as follows:

1. Ammonia is a common chemical used in laboratories and pharmaceutical companies.
2. Ammonia is used in wastewater treatment
3. It is also used in leather,paper, food and beverages industries.
4. Ammonia is widely used in cold storage and refrigerator systems
5. Ammonia is used in making cosmetics and painting products.

• Effects of ammonia on environment :

Various effects are seen on environment due to Ammonia. Some of them are:-

1. Ammonia causes pollution commonly known as ammonia pollution harming the soil and the growth of the plant by it’s toxic effects.
2. Release of ammonia in water bodies leads to difficulty in survival of aquatic species.
3. Ammonia and its productions harms many of the species thus leads to decrease in biodiversity.
4. Ammonia as fertilizer is good but excessive use leads to toxic effects and decrease in nutrient level thus effecting the organisms adversely.
5. Ammonia and its products formation releases alot amount of greenhouse gases hence leads to greenhouse effect.
