Air Pollution

Definition: Air pollution refers to the presence of harmful  substances, including gases, particulates, and biological molecules, in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Following are the causes of Air Pollution 

Natural Causes

Volcanic Eruptions:Volcanoes release ash and gases like sulfur dioxide into the air, which can cause air pollution and affect air quality.

Wildfires:Wildfires produce smoke and particles that can spread and degrade air quality, causing health issues.

Dust Storms:Dust storms lift large amounts of dust into the air, causing breathing problems and reducing visibility.

Human-Made Causes

Burning Fossil Fuels:Using coal, oil, and natural gas for energy and transportation releases harmful gases and particles, contributing to air pollution and global warming.

Vehicle Emissions:Cars and trucks produce pollutants like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides from fuel combustion, contributing to air pollution and smog.

Deforestation:Cutting down trees for farming or building releases stored carbon dioxide and reduces the number of trees that can absorb CO₂, increasing air pollution.

Industrial Emissions:Factories and power plants burn fossil fuels, releasing harmful gases like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, leading to smog and acid rain.
