Inclusion and acceptance plays a crucial role in the growth and development of a child with special needs. It goes beyond physical presence.  Creating an inclusive atmosphere involves developing an environment where all the children’s irrespective of their disabilities feel inclusive and valued. There should be zero discrimination with any child irrespective of his or her physical or psychological condition.  Though we as a nation are becoming financially reliable, yet even today in several parts of our country, setting up a school for child with special needs is a very difficult option due to lack of necessary infrastructure and financial support from the government.  Under such circumstances, inclusive education is the only viable option.  And, this is only possible if peers accept and embrace each other shortcomings and limitations.                                                                                                  Here are some ways through which we as a society can accept and ensure inclusion of children with special needs in schools and communities.

Learning starts from your home itself. Teach your child that everyone is equal and needs to be respected irrespective of any differences.

Awareness campaigns are a good way to highlight the abilities of special child and bust any myths surrounding the disability.

Parents can also support the parents of special child by providing them with essential resources and platform to connect with other similar families.

Ensure that public places and community facilities are open to all these kids without any restrictions.

Conduct game activities and group projects to encourage social interactions and promote friendships among the peers.

With fast-paced technological innovation and changing atmosphere, today’s generation is becoming smarter and bolder with times. They are quite moody. They believe they know almost everything under the sky and don’t have the patience to listen to their elders. Even parents are  now  facing tough time handling their kids tantrums. They themselves are sometimes  clueless as to what is happening in their child’s mind. This might also be due to lack of open communication between a parent and the child.  It is highly essential for parents to timely notice and address any behavioral changes in their child.                                                                                It’s their responsibility to identify the root cause of the changed behavior and  bad habits and find a solution to deal with it in a friendly-manner. Scolding or physically abusing a child would only add to the flame. It is esssential to analyze the core of the situation and guide your child accordingly.                                              Motivating open communication is the first and foremost important thing to understand your child’s mindset. Adults should focus on creating a friendly atmosphere to motivate  youngsters to open up without any fear.
Secondly, it is very essential to be a good listener. As an adult, try to be a  good listener to your child. Paying close attention to what your child is saying will help you to gain his/her trust and confidence. They will feel free to open up.
Parents can also reward or appreciate their childrens for their good actions and behaviors. This will motivate them to follow the same path.                            Childrens view adults as their role models. They often imitate what their parents or elder siblings do. It’s your responsibility to set a right example for your younger ones. Even a small action can  influence them significantly. So as an adult you should also be careful with your own behavior and activities.
Lastly, teach them what is morally acceptable and what not. They should know their limitations and boundaries. They should know the  implications of their behaviors and action within the society.
