India holds a significant amount of soft power which is an ability of a country to attract others through means of military force, culture and policies to achieve their goals. In recent years India’s soft power is derieved from it’s cultural diplomacy, heritiage, yoga, cuisine, technology and healthcare industry.
This soft power has empowered India to engage in organizing different cultural programs, international events, and fesitivals that propagates india’s rich cultural heritage like tradtions, literature, art and music. Also the popularity of Ayurveda and yoga have contributed in increasing India’s influence at a global level.
We can also give a spotlight on India’s Covid-19 diplomacy during pandemic where it became a major manufacturer and exporter of covid vaccines to various countries across the globe. This diplomacy not only helped india to iprove its position as a stakeholder but also as provider of global public especially for developmental countries.
Over the years India has played a major role in various multilateral organizations such as G20 and Non Aligned movement to promote its visions, intrests and relations for its equitable global order. In educational and technological sector India reowns educational institutions like IIT’s (Indian Institue of Technilogy) and IIM’s (Indian Institute of Management) that have attracted foriegn students leading to increased recoginition of India’s educational sectors. India’s tech sector with companies like Reliance, Tata, Jio, Paytm, and Flipkart has strengthened India’s image in the innovation hub. However there are few limitations to India’s soft power like lack of finance, coordination and skilled labor.
In conclusion India has contributed more positive and influential image at a global level by attainng 11th position in World soft Power Index 2023 with a potential to shape the international relations in the coming years.
