Animation is a technique involved in photography and videography that brings images or pictures into motion. It converts images into virtual reality. VFX or Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) adds effects or animated images to the real shooting. Several popular movies and games namely PUBG, Clash of Clans, Games of Thrones, etc. are the work of animation and VFX industry
Animation and VFX industry in India touched a growth rate of nearly 17% in 2018, as per KPMG India- FICCI report. The reasons for its growth and emergence in India can be discussed as follows:

• Indian VFX and animation markets got a boost owing to various national and state-level subsidies, fiscal incentives, and the creation of a large number of local hubs and facilities.
  • Government initiatives like ‘Make in India’ have been actively investing in this industry through their ‘Digital India’ scheme to increase employment opportunities.
• The growing increase in demand for domestic IP versus services for international projects has widened the reach of Indian animation and VFX studios not only for international movies and TV series but also for domestic projects, which increasingly employ the use of computer- generated graphics like that of Baahubali in 2015.
• The emergence of online streaming services has also increased the demand for computer generated content creation for movies and series, and the Indian market has benefited and surfed this trend.
• 3D is no longer restricted to films or TV series and has spread its wings wide open in the fields of education, medicine, architecture, games, VFX, AR & VR, etc. The dynamism of emerging 3D software is highly customizable to suit the various needs of the world.
• The biggest strengths of Indian animation nowadays are its creative strength and cost- effectiveness. That is why global industry leaders try to deploy their production houses straight away in India or in collaboration with existing pioneers.
• Animation and VFX have become part of the syllabus in visual art studies, enabling artists and creative talent to be better prepared than ever to help take the Indian animation industry to new heights.

The Indian animation, VFX and post-production industry is expected to more than double in the next five years considering India as a growing consumer of the entertainment industry.
