Yes, it’s rightly said! Also, I believe several other negative feelings, thoughts and beliefs are often linked with perfectionism. The desire of perfectionism is often originating from societal expectations and the conviction that achieving perfection will lead to validation and acceptance in the so-called society.
Perfectionists often fear that any mistake or flaw will lead to rejection, criticism, embarrassment, or dissatisfaction from other people. They strongly believe that anything less than perfection is intolerable. But it’s not always true. It is just holding us back. The relentless pressure of being perfect sow the seeds of self-doubt which leads to stress and instill the fear of failure. This mindset affects the decision making of an individual.
The real meaning of perfectionism is not what we have been understanding for so long. Perfectionism is about a constant internal battle with self-esteem and the fear of losing or making mistakes, which hinder our personal well-being, growth and productivity.
