Election Commission of India (ECI) is a constitutional body which is responsible for administering and conducting free and fair elections to the parliament, state legislatures,offices of president and vice president of India .
It consists of chief election commissioner and two election commissioners appointed by the president of India for tenure of six years or until the age of 65 years & It is established under Article 324 of the Indian Constitution.
Functions of the Election Commission of India-

The Commission ensures that elections are held in a transparent manner, free from any form of interference or bias.
One of its significant roles is to prepare and update the electoral rolls, ensuring that all eligible citizens have the right to vote. The ECI also regulates the election process by enforcing the Model Code of Conduct, which outlines ethical practices for political parties and candidates during elections.
Additionally, the Commission has the authority to supervise and control the entire election process, including the deployment of security forces and the management of polling booths. By addressing complaints and disputes related to elections, the ECI plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, thereby strengthening democracy in India.
