Gurukul, the first educational system of India marked a successful impact on the nation and upcoming generations as it taught the importance of practical learning. After Gurukual, India followed the Modern Educational System (1830) which focused majorly on classroom learning. Also, topics such as Science and Maths were promoted highly. This did not stop here, the Government took major steps to set up educational policies such as 1)Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan 2002: Under this government made it important for everyone to acquire elementary education from the age of (6-14 years). 2)Back to School camps were setup and 3) Mid-day meal scheme 1995: To promote more attendance schools started providing one-time nutritious meals to students. 4) Article 21-A: Govt. in the 86th amendment act 2002 adapted Article 21-A to provide free and compulsory education for all children in the age of 6-14 as a fundamental right. These steps have positive impacts to ensure equity and access to quality education. An increase from 39% in 1991 to 77.70% have been seen in the average literacy rate of India.
