In today’s world, where the “recognition of men and women as equally vital elements to society“ is widespread, we are well aware that this mindset is not yet fully accepted by all and hence concept of feminism still stands as a guiding force that tirelessly fights for equal rights and empowering individuals of all genders to thrive on same footing.
Feminism’s relevance can not be questioned. It not only challenges discriminatory practices in areas like employment, education, healthcare ,politics but also promotes diverse representations and encourages individuals to defy unethical societal expectations and end discrimination. It eliminates the traditional gender norms ,breaking away from limiting portrayals and depicting diverse experiences and identities with different perspectives, stories, voices that would make our society more accepting and modern in true sense.
The eradication of abuse against women and marginalized genders and addressing issues like sexual harassment, domestic violence , human trafficking , forced abortion or reproductive coercion is possible because of feminism. The most concerning discrimination to exist is in healthcare sector ,the quality of care and treatment is compromised if individuals from low-income households or marginalized communities are to be treated and this leads in rise of eating disorders, depression and other mental illness in today’s generation. Feminism also teaches about being more accepting towards different body shapes, sizes, appearances and protecting reproductive rights ensuring individuals have autonomy over their bodies.
Amongst various other examples addressing concern over equal opportunities with equal wages still remains unaccomplished. The existence of wage gap reflects ongoing inequalities in workplaces. Lack of leadership opportunities to women in private and public sector proves the limited influence in organizational governance. Feminism continues to champion equality and empower all genders and as a responsible part of society it is crucial in fostering respect , justice and equal opportunities for all.
