I agree that customs and traditions, when rigidly followed without questioning, can suppress reason and lead to obscurantism. While traditions often carry cultural significance and historical value, they can also become impediments to progress when adhered to uncritically. This is especially true when these practices are rooted in outdated beliefs or superstitions that contradict contemporary knowledge and ethical standards.
For instance, certain customs might promote discriminatory practices, such as caste-based discrimination or gender inequality, which hinder social progress. When individuals follow these traditions without questioning their relevance or impact, it stifles critical thinking and perpetuates ignorance.
Moreover, the resistance to change often associated with traditionalism can prevent the adoption of new ideas and technologies that could improve societal well-being. Obscurantism, the deliberate restriction of knowledge and reason, thrives in environments where customs are revered without scrutiny. This can lead to the perpetuation of myths and misinformation, which further hampers intellectual and social advancement.
However, it is important to note that not all customs and traditions are harmful. When they are adaptable and open to reinterpretation, they can coexist with reason and contribute positively to society. The key is to strike a balance between preserving cultural heritage and embracing rational thought.

The unique feature of Indian society is the caste system, which has its origins dating back centuries. Caste is determined by birth, and an individual can’t alter their caste. Various regulations exist concerning marriage, occupation, and food sharing.
Dynamic Feature of Caste
The impact of globalization, urbanization, migration, and modernization has led to dynamic changes in caste identities. Today, inter-caste marriage is more widely accepted. The traditional endogamy principle of caste has become less rigid, with instances of marriages occurring outside the caste becoming more common. Nevertheless, the frequency of inter-caste marriages remains low. The caste system has given rise to social problems such as untouchability, discriminating against lower castes, and relegating them to lower positions. However, modern values such as equality, fraternity, and liberty have brought about changes in these issues.
Static Feature of Caste
Despite this, certain aspects of the caste system have remained unchanged. While the upper castes may not see the impact of caste as they enjoy privileges, it significantly affects the lower castes who benefit from government reservations in various areas such as employment and education. Consequently, Indian society continues to embrace caste identities and uphold traditions and customs associated with different castes. Political parties manipulate caste affiliations to secure votes, promoting the visibility and importance of one’s caste identity.
Conclusion
Despite various transformations, the static nature of the caste system in India has persisted. Centuries-old norms, beliefs, and traditions are deeply ingrained in Indian society, making it difficult for people to forget or alter them.

Climate change has a huge negative impact on every creature of nature, be it humans, animals or plants. But it has more disadvantageous impacts on women when compared to men.
Some of the disadvantageous impacts of climate change on women are as follows:
1) Economics Impact : As per Annual Periodic Labour Force Survey 2021-22, more than 60% of women in India’s workforce are engaged in agriculture, which is the most affected area due to climate change. These women’s livelihood is at risk.
2) Health Impact : Women have specific health needs related to menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding which can be exacerbated by climate change. For example, access to clean water and sanitation is crucial for reproductive health and it’s scarcity can lead to complications and infections.
3) Educational Impact : Climate Change leads to scarcity of resources and in developing countries like India, people tend to compromise with girls’ education in such situations.
4) Mental Impact : Women, who often bear the brunt of ensuring family survival and well-being, may experience higher level of stress and mental health issues in the situation of lack of food and water resources.
5) Decision Making : Women often have less influence in policy making which can result in their needs and perspectives being overlooked.
In conclusion, we can say that policy makers should make gender-sensitive policies and programs by considering unique challenges faced by women in their daily life.

Yes, some of these features still prevail in the present Indian society. For example: Indian society is a patriarchal society with most people still dependent on agriculture for subsistence.
Also, yoga and Ayurveda is gaining popularity in recent times with initiatives like International Yoga day and Ayushmaan Bharat scheme.
Therefore, Vedic period was the structure which gradually became the foundation for the present Indian society.
