Vertical farming and aeroponics are the future steps of revolutionizing agriculture.
1. Space Optimization: This method of vertical farming ensures space is effectively utilized by growing crops in vertical layers, more so in urban areas where land resources are few.
2. Resource Optimisation: Both methods use significantly less amount of water as compared to conventional farming techniques. Aeroponics happens to be an ideal method for those places having a dearth of water resource availability since it saves up to 95% of water.
Controlled environments allow for the supply of crops on a year-round basis and increase food security.
3. Reduced pesticide usage: Use of fewer quantities of pesticide, in general, makes the healthier fruits and vegetables with no traces of pesticides.
4. Less travel distance: Urban vertical farms would reduce the food traveling distance from farm to plate, thereby decreasing transportation costs, reducing carbon emissions, and resulting in a fresh produce delivery.
Vertical farming and aeroponics help to solve major issues of the twenty-first century—land and water shortage, urban food deserts, and climate change. As such, with a growing global population, it becomes fundamentally important to work on the sustainability and efficiency of farming practices.
Accordingly, these new ways of farming are important for future food security and ecological balance due to local food production and reduced environmental degradation.

Pests and diseases are part of the natural environmental system. In environmental ecosystem there is a balance between predators and pests. This is the way of controlling populations. That organism cause disease only when their activities start to damage crops and affect yields.
The aim of natural control is to restore a balance between pest and predator and to keep pests and diseases down to acceptable down. Our aim is not to eradicate them altogether, as they also have a role to play which in the natural system. Once a pest or disease has started to attack a crop, the damage cannot be repaired and control becomes difficult.
pests are often controlled with man made chemicals which have many harmful effects. Before taking action to control pests and diseases it is very important to make sure that problem is correctly identified. some of the methods include:
A soil managed using organic methods.
weeding should done regularly
A wide variety or “genetic diversity” between the plants within a single crop is important.
Crop rotation also helps a variety of natural predators to survive
