Despite abortion being legal in country, many women resort to unsafe methods due to various factors. These unsafe practices can lead to severe health complications , including infections , hemorrhage, infertility, and even death. The physical consequences of unsafe abortions can be devastating . Women may experience severe bleeding, pelvic infection ,damage to reproductive organs , and in some cases ,death. The mental health impact of unsafe abortions is equally concerning . Women who undergo these procedures may experience trauma, anxiety, depression ,and feelings of shame or isolation. Unsafe abortions are a significant public health concern in India, despite abortion being legal there. Here are some of the factors that contribute to this . * Lack of awareness and education : May women, particularly those in rural areas, are unaware of their legal right to safe abortion services or the health risks associated with unsafe abortions . *Stigma and social pressure : There is lot of stigma surrounding abortion in India , which can prevent women from seeking safe abortion services. Women may fear judgment or discrimination from their families and communities . * Limited access to healthcare facilities : There is a shortage of of healthcare facilities, particularly in rural areas, that can provide safe abortion services. This can make it difficult for women to access the care they need . * Cost: Even when abortion services are available, they may be too expensive for some women . *Unfriendly healthcare providers : Some healthcare providers may be judgmental or unwilling to provide abortion services.
