As per the World Population Report 2022c, unsafe abortions are the leading cause of maternal mortality in India and close to 8 women die from causes related to unsafe abortions , Lack of access to safe ,adorable abortion care poses risk to women’s physical and mental well-being and violates a range of human rights of women and girls, including the right to life, the right benefit from scientific progress and its realization, etc.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Unsafe abortions are a critical public health issue in India , posing a significant threat  to women’s physical and mental well being. Despite abortion  being legal in country, many women resort to unsafe methods due to various factors. These unsafe practices can lead to severe health complications , including infections , hemorrhage, infertility, and even death.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               The physical consequences of unsafe abortions can be devastating . Women may experience severe bleeding, pelvic infection ,damage to reproductive organs , and in some cases ,death.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           The mental health impact of unsafe abortions is equally concerning . Women who undergo these procedures  may experience trauma, anxiety, depression ,and feelings of shame or isolation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Unsafe abortions are a significant public health concern in India, despite abortion being legal there. This can discourage women from seeking care.                                                                                                                                                                                These factors can all lead women to seek unsafe abortions from unskilled providers, which can have serious health consequences, even death.
