In 2004 the political researchers of USA presented a hypothesis called string of pearls to the world. The conclusion to the hypothesis was that China is building a network of military and commercial facilities from its mainland till port Sudan at horn of Africa to monopolize global trade.
The manifestation of string of pearls theory was the creation of BRI project and CPEC project. India then being a reactive system envisioned a necklace of diamond strategy introduced by former foreign secretary Lalit Mansingh in 2011. This strategy was to promote free and open Indo Pacific policy.
