We live in an age of over-stimulation thanks to social media, e-mails and ready-at-our-fingertips distractions from our smart devices.
To avoid distraction first we need to understand from where it is coming from , is it someone we like , is it out of boredom or is it through the task we don’t want to do . For example , we are studying a not very interesting subject , there is a high possibility to get distracted from this . Distraction is subjective for different individuals . due to distraction we are also getting vulnerable to shorter attention span .
Remember this, do not blame everything on social media for your distraction but taking the accountability for your action. REALISE THE TECHNOLOGY IS MEANT TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE, THERE ARE MANY BENEFITS TO IT and you are the one that uses it , Make sure the technology is not the thing that use you. ‘Between stimulus and response lies a space. In that space lie our freedom and power to choose a response. In our response lies our growth and happiness.”- Steven Covey (author of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People).
Here are some tips to overcome distractions-
Turn the notifications off- when we are doing some important work we should turn the notifications off of our social media and should try to focus on the most important work .
Practice mindfulness- One hack or trick one can have for getting the focus back on track is to take a break and do a quick meditation or mindfulness exercise. This works well because it allows us to clear my mind and refocus on the task at hand. By taking a few minutes to focus on your breath and ground myself in the present moment, you can able to let go of distractions and get back to work with renewed energy and focus. This technique works well because it helps me to relax, reduce stress and improve my concentration and productivity.
Give Yourself A Reward To Look Forward To- One way to stay motivated at work is to reward yourself with something you enjoy every day. This could be a small treat, like your favorite candy or coffee, or something bigger, like taking yourself out for lunch. The important thing is to find something that you really like and that makes you feel energetic from within. Whatever it is that you enjoy, make sure to schedule it into your day so that you have something to look forward to. This will help you stay focused and motivated, even on days when work is challenging. Furthermore, it is a way of showing yourself that you are capable of meeting your objectives. When you feel good about what you have accomplished, it is more likely that you will continue to be motivated in the future.
Think About Where and Who You Want to Be – Remind yourself that you are a human being. Distraction can happen to anyone . Take a break from your work, relax with a cup of coffee, and think about your goals for the next two years and how to achieve them. This process of planning and setting goal will motivate you to return to work with renewed energy and focus. Distractions are unavoidable, so it’s important to understand them and manage them effectively.
