Introduction – E NAM 

• It is an online trading platform for  agricultural commodities in India.
• It was launched on April 14, 2016, and is completely funded by the Government of India.
• The Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) acts as the lead agency for implementing e-Nam under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. 
• It aims to create better marketing opportunities for the farmers to sell their products through a competitive and transparent price discovery system, along with an online payment facility for the buyers.

Benefits to farmers 

• E nam provides enhanced and expanded possibilities for selling products, resulting in fair competition 
• The scheme allows farmers to have access to the national level market with prices determined by the quality of their products 
• Online payment are transferred directly to the bank account of farmers.
• The farmers can choose any Mandi within 100km range to sell their products 
• Cheap and nearest truck or tractors can be available to them through logistic module
• If the farmers don’t want to sell their products at a low price they can store it in a warehouse and sell it later. Farmer can take electronic warehouse receipt and can sell their products through it on e- nam
• Farmers can auction their products can see live bid rate and get best price for their product it was especially designed to improve financial conditions of farmers
• Farmers can sell their produce in more than one market
