Most people have the notion that menstruation is a normal and natural phenomenon in most women’s lives. However what they fail to note is the number of problems that come along with it. Almost 50% of the women population these days, have an illness called PCOS or PCOD which makes menstruation not only painful but also moderately unbearable for them to handle. Being a woman myself, I would like to also say that menstrual leave is not a free pass for women to chill around and enjoy, but it is to relief them from the immense pain and attached symptoms, so that they can ensure that their work for the next few days remains efficient.

A bill granting women paid menstrual leave should be passed as a gesture to support women during their tough times. This “natural” phenomenon can prove to be a few of the most physically challenging days, as some women can barely get up from their beds, let alone go to work. At least one paid menstrual leave should be granted to every woman, every month, no matter which company. The first step should be raising more awareness as to why menstrual leave is necessary and demanded.
