Globalization and its implication on local traditions and identities : 

Globalization as a movement got popularized thanks to capitalism and technology. It refers to the flow of ideas, goods and people across borders. Globalization has helped in expanding businesses, creating Multinational Corporations, provide the population with numerous options to choose from, etc. Even though globalization has opened many doors, created job opportunity for many, it has also acted as an antagonist for many local businesses and traditions of mostly third world countries. Multinational Corporations have reduced the popularity of previously famous local merchants and businesses that were native to that land and relatable to the local people. The amount of monetary power that MNC’s hold and the choices that they offer, have led to them overtaking the local businesses. The local businesses could not compete with the ‘new’ choices that MNC’s offered, be it through services or produced goods. They also gave the advantage of cheap products with high quality that were produced with the help of Western technology. The local businesses, not only added to the GDP of their country but they were part of a culture within that country. Their products, services and way of work built a connection with the local population that was later on destroyed with the commencement of globalization. This not only decreased the power of such businesses but also increased foreign influence within the country. This began a McDonalisation within various countries. This term was used to describe the spread the idea of an American way of living within the population of different countries. Globalization successfully advertised this idea and made people accept capitalization as the new way of  living. This changed their lifestyle as well as the cultures they lived in.
