Globalization has many dimensions (economic, political, cultural) which aims for the increasing the interconnectedness among countries or establish a borderless world. The waves of globalization changed or improved the situations of the countries and its people by the time. This process also brought the changing opportunities for women in India as well in both empowering and in challenging ways.

Positive Effects:

1. Social and Cultural Changes: The process of globalization fills the gaps of communication in the lives of women which leads to the knowledge or awareness of their rights (from access to education to access to healthcare). It also uncovers the global norms and practices that have led to movements for women’s rights, gender equality and identity acceptance in India.
2. Economic Opportunities: The expansion of the industries creates the new employment opportunities for the women which brings economic stability in their lives, many women have also become the role models. The rise of the multinational companies has opened up roles in sectors which earlier dominated by the men such as information technology, textiles, fashion, marketing etc.

Negative Effects:

1. Diminishing of Values: Indian society is rich with its values ​​and women are considered the key to regulate ancient values. Working women’s perspective towards traditional values ​​is changing due to fear of losing freedom.
2. Economic Inequality: Not every woman gets the equal opportunities. The number of low paid and exploitative jobs has been increased for women.
