How to reduce water pollution

1. Septic tanks, oxidation ponds, filter beds, waste water treatment plants, and municipal sewage treatment plants for the separation and removal of various pollutants from sewage before it is released into river or sea.

2. Water hyacinth ( Eichornia crassipes) has shown promising results for purifying domestic and industrial waste water.

3. Proper legislative measures should be taken.

4. Limiting the use of single use plastic, plastic straw, bottle etc. Is helpful to reduce plastic wastes in ocean or rivers.

5. Organic farming can be used to reduce chemical runoff.

6. Lastly awareness regarding water pollution, its causes and consequences should be spread to educate people.
