The Pacific Ring of Fire is a 24,900 mile long Circumference along Pacific ocean constituting more than 450 volcanoes and 90% of world’s Seismic activity. It directly affects the Geography and and Terrain and social life of associated countries and forms a diverse ecological effects like Global warming, Isostasy.

Reasons for Volcanic and Seismic activity in Circum-Pacific belt-

• Tectonic activity:   The Ring of Fire exists on the Intersection of multiple major and minor tectonic plates like Pacific, Philippine, North America, South America, Eurasia, Indo-Australian. The different types of associations between the plates give birth to Volcanism and Earthquakes.
• Orogenic Forces: Compressive and Divergent forces between different plates result in upwelling of magma to surface and Faults and creation of Hotspots in pacific ocean the rising magma can lead to the formation of volcanoes along the convergent plate boundaries. 

Significance of Ring of Fire globally-

• Catastrophic effects-
  • Constant Earthquakes in Japanese sea due to interaction of Pacific, Eurasian and Philippine plate ex: 2011 japan Tsunami by earthquake of magnitude 9.0.
  • Seismic activity in San Andreas due to Divergence between Pacific and North American Plate ex: Tejon earthquake 1857
  • Volcanic Activities in Indonesia and Brunei ex; Mount Krakatoa 1885
• Diastrophic Effects-
  • Formation of chain of Islands: Formation of Archipelagos and Ocean mountains due to Hotspots and Subduction ex: Aleutian archipelagos, Mauna kea, Galapagos Islands, Philippines Islands, Japanese Islands, Mauna loa, Hawaiian Islands etc.
  • Creation of  faults and mountains: The process of subduction and  Diversion causes formation of San andreas fault line, Rockies ranges, Mariana trench, Rugged terrain of japan etc.

The Circum-Pacific belts also releases rare minerals and help in scientific research about tectonic movements on earth and also influences Mid ocean ridge in Atlantic by doing subduction. While possessing hazards this region contains abundance of geothermal heat and maintains Isostasy on Earth and  create an ecological effect.
