We Indians have a set of idea about intelligence and he who fall on that sets idea or category can be call as “intelligent”. It is neither good for the society nor for its development.Though the concept of intelligent humans are changing. Even the academic grading systems have changed. Marking criteria are changing day by day. Some of our State education board have excellent grading system which indeed cultivate the overall thinking capacity of a student.
Academic scores are no doubt a criteria to be called intelligent but we cannot ignore emotional intelligence as well. These two are not same but related. An emotionally intelligent man can have good academic score but it is not obvious that an academically intelligent man have good emotional intelligence. We all know the name of Thomas Alva Edison. This great scientist did not have greate academic scores but his emotional intelligence was very high.We can take the example of Gurudev Rabindranath Tegore also. He hates the conventional academic culture rater prefer a free and open mind for leading. We all know about his emotional intelligence. Gurudev realized the difference between academic education and learning at his early age.
An academically talented person may or may not emotionally intelligent. Emotional intelligence tends to creativity and excellence in practical life.
