In 2025, India is facing significant cyber threats which involve phishing, malware attack, crypto crimes, deepfake technology, honey traps . To curb all these crimes, cybersecurity is required. Cybersecurity refers to technologies, rules created to protect computer systems, devices from cyber attacks.

Major cyberattacks in 2025 –

1. Phishing- When attackers send spam e-mails or messages than contain different links to websites that contain malware which could lead to leakage of important informations and data transfer.  For ex: Dridex malware
2. Malware attacks- Hackers and cyber criminals use softwares and viruses to damage networks and in return they blackmail victims by demanding money.  For ex: Infector malware
3. Cryptocrimes- Misuse of crypto currency for drug trafficking, fraud , money laundering and other illicit activities. For ex: Exit Scam
4. Deepfake technologies- Misinformation is spread on internet by creating fake vidoes and pictures with the help of AI . For ex: Fake pictures of politicians to spread rumour
5. Honey Traps- Cybercriminals use social media apps and dupe victims by chatting, calling and then asking for money.

Indian government has introduced several initiatives to curb these threats:

1. National Cyber Security Policy:  Management plan has been prepared
2. Cyber Surakshit Bharat:  This initiative focusses on IT Officials and government departments. Its aim is to create awareness among security officers and stakeholders in Government  departments.
3. Indian Computer Emergency Response Team ( CERT- In): It is focussed to create advisories and alerts about latest cyber threats and counter them.
4. Cyber Swacchta Kendra: Botner cleaning and malware analysis centre for detection of malicious programs and providing free tools to remove them.

Measures like enhances cloud security by applying cloud protection platforms and APIs should be launched. Training and education should be provided by regular audits and awareness programs. Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning programs can be integrated for identification of emerging threats.

By implementing these strategies, India can improve its cybersecurity conditions and protect the digital infrastructure from emerging threats
