The Constitution is the core value of a democratic country like India to keep a system of checks and balances. It provides stability in governance and a clear framework while making essential decisions or implementing policies for the welfare.

The Need of a Constitution in a Democratic Country Like India

A democratic country means direct or indirect involvement of the citizens concerning the selection of the representative of a country where the Rights of every section of the society shall be protected.

India, a representative democratic country, declared itself a democratic republic on January 26, 1950, with the enactment of a constitution to give assurance and allow for minimal coordination amongst the people. 

The constitution also protects the Fundamental Rights of citizens, minorities,  and foreign nationals (Art. 12-35). It has the separation of power to prevent the concentration of power, which reduces tyranny (Art. 50). 

• After the enactment of the Indian Constitution, the first case was against a communist leader A.K. Gopalan under the Preventive Detention Act. 
• The Apex Court ruled out that there was no violation of FRs if one had been detained by the established legal procedures, which helped police officers catch the disturbing elements of the society without hesitation to maintain the peace and harmony of this country. The legal enforceability of certain rules gives a feeling of safety and security to the society. That’s how a constitution helps in running a country smoothly.
