The arrival of digital technology and e-books had a profound impact on the traditional print literature and in the reading experience. The advent of audiobooks also created a huge impact in the reading culture. The e-books and audiobooks offer convenience and accessibility and is also cost efficient but on the other hand the print literature gives us the old school feel to read books sitting on a Saturday evening in your balcony reading the hard bound and feeling each and every letter and also the touch of the pages in the book is a realm of satisfaction for a profound reader. The print literature gives us the benefit to connect with more fellow readers and discuss about the books by joining book clubs. This helps in creating a community and engaging in pleasant activities. There is a concern that the rise of digital books might lead to a decline in the appreciation for print literature and the experience of reading a physical book. As the new age is becoming increasingly diverse the traditional print literature should be conserved because it has its own essence which can never get lost.

Yes, nostalgia can bring a sense of comfort and discomfort. This contradiction arises because nostalgia is such a complex term and it can cause both positive and negative emotions separately or together in a person. The comfort in nostalgia brings all the positive and happy memories that a person remembers when something pleasant happens in their life but it can all crash down when a discomfort memory comes in mind causing even the pleasant and happy memory to dissolve. It is a boon and a bane altogether. In literature certain characters exist which happen to be the hunt of this problem. In Haruki Murakami’s “Kafka on the Shore”, one of the protagonist Kafka lives in both comfort and discomfort for his nostalgic memories of her mother and her sister. Kafka also runs away from his home due to his fathers’ violent behavior towards him which will in the future bring all the discomfort memories back to him.
See lessIn the book “The five people you meet in heaven” by Mitch Albom tells us the story of an old man who died and then he meet five people and learn his life lessons. Some people were familiar and some were total strangers, but this tells us that every person you know or you don’t teaches us life lessons in some way or the other. By meeting some people he had pleasant memories with them which were comforting to him but some memories brought him discomfort and made him sad. Sometimes discomfort memories too can give you important life lessons and this is how life works.
