Art has always been a reflection of human thoughts and endeavours. The culture, governing principles, and beliefs of each society, from pre-historic to modern, have always been documented through various creative practices.
Art and culture are subject to geographical and socio-political conditions. So much so, that even the climate of a region influences the art forms. For example, traditional Rajasthani paintings exhibit a warm colour range and almost a complete lack of vegetation. In contrast, Pahari paintings are filled with lush foliage, trees and hills–all depicted with a range of cool colours.
To understand this artistic diversity, one must explore the world. Travelling will provide deeper insights into the culture of a place—a first hand experience of the factors that characterise its art. Besides, any creative piece, including historical architecture, exists outside in the world. Museums and galleries also bring creative pieces closer to the public eye. Therefore, travelling is indispensable to anyone who truly wants to study a place and learn about the nuances of its art, something that is impossible without a direct experience.
