No student will immediately trust his/her teacher to ask his/her personal information or problem, but for that a teacher must maintain a rapport with the students from the beginning so that they can share their every problem with him/her.
To understand a student, first of all we need to know in what situation they are talking? Is he in a situation where he is having a temporary feeling?
And then we should behave in such a way as if we understand their situation and are with them. We have to understand and explain them not as a teacher but as an advisor. We have to win their trust and make them feel that we will give them the right advice. Only after that we can ask them personal questions and tell them their solutions.
If he/she is wrong, we should not directly tell him/her that he/she is wrong. We should explain him/her in a different way, tell him/her the difference between right and wrong and make him/her understand like a good advisor.
In the end, after listening to him/her completely, knowing the whole problem well and knowing the circumstances, we should tell him/her the solution.
