A very interesting question! According to me music profoundly influences culture and society by shaping and reflecting values, traditions, and social dynamics. It preserves cultural heritage and expresses identity through genres like reggae and hip-hop. Music fosters community and social cohesion through shared experiences at concerts and rituals. Emotionally, it helps regulate moods and aids in identity formation. Socially and politically, music serves as a tool for protest and change, reflecting societal climates and advocating for issues. Economically, the music industry provides jobs and boosts local economies through tourism and events. Technologically, it drives innovation and facilitates cultural diffusion, with global genres like Pop and Rock. Educationally, music enhances cognitive skills and promotes cultural literacy. In essence, music is a powerful force that shapes, unites, and reflects society.
I personally listen to variety of music genres 🙂

Music is known to play a deep role in culture and society since it is a language that has an impact on people all over the world regardless of their geographical location, social status or political affiliations. Art provides an insight into the culture of the people, their ethos, the traditions that define them and their history. The lyrics and tunes give music the ability to express feelings, historical and social events, and ethics to the listeners promoting unity within the society.
Musical compositions are historical witnesses that participated in social battles and political revolutions. Songs rallying for freedom during the civil rights movement back in the 1960s to current hits about various social justice causes back in the current decade prove that music is capable of raising public consciousness. It becomes a means through which certain groups in society can share their experiences with the rest of society.
In culture, music affects fashion statements, language and even ways of living. Music genre such as hip hop, rock and pop not only influenced music preference, but also trend in dressing, manner of speech and behavior. Music festivals and concerts are cultural signposts which contribute towards the development of communal identity since they are experiences that are collectively enjoyed by people.
However, it is worth mentioning that music possesses a therapeutic effect. Not only it decreases stress in the lives of people, but it has also been found to benefit the mental health of an individual. Music in school enhances the learning environment, and helots improve creative skills, and the thought processes of students and learners.
In a commercial perspective, music is used in branding and marketing where it elicits a specific response in consumers and makes them loyal to a brand. Music used in retail settings can affect consumers’ behaviors and jingle can help one remember an advert.
Thus, it becomes important to appreciate and understand how music plays a role in shaping the culture and society together with its impact on identities and aspects of social change, and emotional and aesthetic experiences. These are qualities that make the movie shake the conscience of individuals and communities globally, and thus its relevance will remain intact.
