During the Industrial Revolution, women and the role of genders were adversely affected and transformed. This will cause a dramatic shift in the role of women in society. The pre-industrial era and the industrial era were becoming huge changes in gender roles. From the 18th century to the mid-19th century has transformed and affected society on a large scale.

So, here are the numerous, complex, and multifaceted changes including both positive and negative:

1. Transformation in home-based work to mechanized work- Before industrialization, household work was profitably managed by women and they performed different home-based tasks like fetching water, picking wood, hand spinning, weaving, artisan crafts, and agricultural work, etc.
2. However, after industrialization, the advent of large machines and technological advances shifted from home-based work to mechanized work. Men, women, and children also work for long hours in the industrial sector.
3. Division of work based on gender roles- Generally before industrialization, women always supported and worked inside the home in activities like agriculture, porting, fetching water, baby care, feeding and taking care of their children, etc. and men always worked outside the home to earn money for their families.
4.  Division of labor- After the establishment of technological advancements and machine-based work, the work will be divided according to gender roles.
5. Typically, women contributed to textile mills, garment factories, and other related factors according to women’s activities. On the other side, men’s typically employed in more physical and technical work.
6. Impact on the socioeconomic status of women- After industrialization, the impact on the social and economic status of women, while the visibility of women has become challenging, and they face various traditional changes and difficulties.
7. Women contributed to the development of the economy as equal to men.
8. Women face a lot of working conditions like long working hours, harsh working conditions, low pay, and unsafe environments.
9. After industrialization, the transition between men and women was seen on a long-term basis because it may decide the future goals of women and she also contributed to the development of the country.
10. Although the positive effects of industrialization will also matter, typically economic, social, and political roles have also equally contributed by women and helped for success and achievements.

The Industrial Revolution revolutionized gender roles and the status of women. Although it created economic opportunities and challenged traditional roles, it subjected women to exploitative working conditions and reinforced a stereotype of men and women. The long-term effects and a gradual shift toward greater recognition of women’s contributions and rights set the stage for future social change and progress in gender equality.
