Indian politics is one of the four pillars of UPSC, along with geography, economics, and history. So here, I’m presenting a detailed approach to mastering this subject from the beginning.
STEP 1- WORKING ON THE FOUNDATION
It is most important to have a strong foundation for any subject. Before diving into the vast syllabus of Indian politics from a standard source, one must read Class 11 NCERT, Indian politics. This book is the life saviour for all who have no idea about the subject. Just read the book one or two times, and that’s enough.
STEP 2- COVERING THE STANDARD SOURCE
Read Indian Politics by Laxmikanth two times before making notes. After that, have a look at the last 10 years of pyqs for both prelims and mains. Then read Laxmikanth again and highlight which you find most important here itself. There is no need to make notes, as this book is already in note format.
Step 3: CONQUERING THE MAINS (GS2)
Gs2 without laxmikant is not possible but not sufficient. Here you have to refer to this book with the 2nd ARC report, Law Commission reports, NCRCW reports, various committee reports, and constitutional experts’s opinions on the current event.
